The representative of His Highness the Amir, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, received His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the Prime Minister, at his residence in New York City today, Executive Vice President and President of Microsoft Corporation for Global Sales, Marketing and Operations, Jean-Philippe Courtois, and his accompanying delegation.
The meeting was attended by His Excellency the Director General of the Direct Investment Promotion Authority, Sheikh Dr. Mishal Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, His Excellency the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, His Excellency the Undersecretary of the Prime Minister’s Office, Sheikh Khaled Talal Al-Khaled Al-Sabah, and His Excellency the Director of the Office of His Highness the Prime Minister, Hamad Badr Al-Amer.
During the meeting, the country’s development plan for digital transformation and artificial intelligence solutions was reviewed, and views were exchanged on the mechanism of creating a digital infrastructure capable of attracting investment assets and creating a pioneering and distinguished business environment that contributes to developing the national economy, diversifying sources of income, and enabling Kuwaiti youth to benefit from the expertise of these companies. Then The delegation extended an invitation to His Highness the Prime Minister and the government of the State of Kuwait to attend Microsoft’s headquarters.
Today, His Highness also received the Chief Investment Officer of Alphabet and Google, Ms. Ruth Porat, and her accompanying delegation.
During the meeting, developments in cooperation between the State of Kuwait and Google Cloud were reviewed after the recent signing of the strategic partnership agreement between the two sides to support digital transformation nationwide in cooperation with government agencies, in addition to discussing mechanisms for preparing national cadres to work in this field and creating new job opportunities to achieve Kuwait’s development vision.
The representative of His Highness the Emir of the country, His Highness the Prime Minister, stressed in a press statement following the meetings the importance of continued cooperation between major companies related to digital technologies and the State of Kuwait to facilitate the business environment in the country and attract more international companies with real added value to create job opportunities for Kuwaiti national cadres and strengthen the capital. Human capital, which directly contributes to advancing the national economy and diversifying sources of income.
His Highness pointed out the government’s interest in preparing the country’s digital infrastructure and enhancing cybersecurity, which contributes to creating an appropriate investment environment that keeps pace with the rapid developments the world is witnessing in technical systems and meets the country’s future needs and ambitions.
